Gallery Gems 24 Feb 2012

This is my first Gallery Gem pick during my Design Team term…. quite a daunting task but oh so worth it when you see what’s to see in the Gallery.

I tried very hard to get a varied selection… not just layouts…. so these are what I picked:

This card by sartophb (sorry I couldn’t see your name)… I just loved the bright vibrant colours.

This page by Yvette for her 52 Weeks Walk… looks so inviting

I liked the fun and mischief in the photos on this layout by Jasmine

My boy loves to read just as much as I do, and seeing layouts by other people of their children reading just warms my heart.  I just had to showcase this layout by Azrood:

And lastly but by no means least, is this cute page about a kitty by Paula

Well done to everyone on your great creative efforts this week… you are my Gallery Gems.

Regards,

Cathy

Meet the DT: Spotlight on Lee-Anne

Back after yesterday’s protest blackout, here we are with another opportunity to get to know the DT better.

Lee-Anne is new to the SC DT.  Say hi to Lee-Anne:

Q. In one sentence, describe your scrapper personality.

My scrapper personality is eclectic.

Q. Where do you find your inspiration?

I find inspiration from photography, my family, nature, color, mixed media, sketches, Pinterest, Facebook, blogs and magazines.

Q. Have you noticed any themes running through your layouts that identify them as yours?

I usually like to scrapbook one photo and pay attention to color, detail and texture in my layouts.

Q. Can you show us your current favorite layout?

What makes this your favorite layout right now?

This one is my favorite because I love the colors, the textures and I took this photo on a beautiful winter day.

{Jan 2012} Seasons of Change Blog Hop

**DUE TO TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMMENT ON THIS BLOG POST.
THE PRIZE FOR BLOG HOP COMMENTS WILL BEGIN WITH THE NEXT STOP.**

Welcome to our first blog hop of 2012.

Scrapbook Challenges was orginally a group on MySpace. Over the last couple years we moved to Ning, changed ownership and moved again. The last couple months have been huge for the site and I have enjoyed seeing it grow day by day. Things will only continue up from here and I am excited that you have decided to join us on this adventure.

The new, returning & a few retiring members have been working hard preparing some awesome layouts based on a sketch created just for this hop.

We also have a double page version  because  of the many requests to bring them back :)

I even had some time to play and I whipped up a single page layout based on the sketch. A little tribute to my “baby” boy who will be turning 5 this weekend:

We have some pretty awesome prizes up for grabs during the blog hop this weekend. First up for one lucky member who completes a layout or project based on the blog hop sketch will pick up the Restoration Collection pack from Crate Paper along with a pack of Game Pieces from Tim Holtz.

Next going to one person who leaves a comment on all of the DT blogs in the hop, a Custom Blog Design package from BZB Designs **

**Due to the comment feature being down on the SC blog, this contest will begin on Amanda’s Blog :)

Our final prize will go to one of the new registers in the Scrapbook Challenges forums over the weekend. That new member will be getting the Sweet Threads collection pack from Basic Grey along with a huge pack of chipboard pieces from Colorbok.

In case you get lost along the way or come across a post that isn’t up, here is the full hop order:

Meet the DT: Spotlight on Emilia

Happy Tuesday Scrapbook Challengers! Cheryl here again to introduce you to the next DT member… Emilia!

Emilia was kind enough to answer some questions on her crafty personality, and now reveals to us what makes her tick in the craft room:

1. What kind of a scrapper are you?

I am feisty by character with a good sense of humor and you can see it in all of my layouts. I love to do things my way – all of my layouts have loads of handmade embellishments, tailor-made colors, hand-stitched patterns and fussy-cut shapes!

2. What inspires you?

Jack London once said, “You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” And I’m taking his advice pretty seriously! I can find inspiration in almost anything – newspaper ads, blooming flowers, colorful wrappings! The world is amazing and you just have to keep your eyes wide open!

3. Do you employ any running themes in your layouts?

Not really. Every single one of my layouts is unique and made to compliment the photos on it. The one thing that I’m putting on all of my pages is the date and place – there is always a note somewhere, hidden or in plain view.

4.a) Can you share with us the favorite layout from your own albums?

3. What makes this your favorite?

This is one of my more recent layouts. I used the very first pictures of my children on it. Both of them were born prematurely and had to stay in an incubator for quite a while… now they are happy, healthy, full of energy – in short, little monsters! So, every time I look at those pictures, I get the feeling that everything will be all right, that there will be a happy ending no matter what!

Emilia, thank you so much for sharing a little bit of you on the blog today. If you want to find out more about Emilia, log on to the Scrapbook Challenges forum and see what she’s up to!

Coming next: the SC Blog Hop! Don’t miss it!

Meet the DT: Spotlight on Brynn Marie

Hi there, Scrapbook Challengers! Cheryl here, with the first of many features on our Design Team members. Our blog hop (exciting!!!) from January 13 to 16 will help you get familiar with the DT as well – but here, we’re going to give each member their time in the spotlight so that you can really understand what makes them tick.

So, today, let’s start off with….(drumroll)….Brynn Marie! She’s the one who’s taken Scrapbook Challenges to the dizzy new heights of having its very own URL. She’s toiled and troubled, laughed and cried, hoped and prayed, cursed a few fly-by-night freelance webbies, and suffered the trauma of crashing computers deciding to delete all their files. But despite it all being rather… challenging… she is now looking at 2012 with bright eyes and a happy heart, because SC members have stuck by and showed their loyalty and patience. We’re up and running again, with challenges and inspiration galore for the coming year.

But onto the lady herself…

Photobucket

I interviewed Brynn and here’s what she had to say:

Q. In one sentence, describe your scrapper personality.

A. I am a single-photo, white-space scrapper who likes to focus on telling the story on my layouts.

Q. Where do you find your inspiration?

A. I am inspired by color and pattern. I love to just go to the fabric store and browse through all the different fabrics – there is so much texture and depth there. If I am at home on my computer you will usually find me on Pinterest… I am totally addicted to that site. I love it because it’s like peeking into other people’s creative minds to see what they like and what inspires them too! Another of my big inspirations is the DT here at Scrapbook Challenges. Seeing so many different ladies take the exact same sketch and interpret it in their own way and make it their own is really amazing.

Q. Have you noticed any themes running through your layouts that identify them as yours?

A. Most of my pages seem to focus on specific events. I lost my mom a month after I turned 21; at that age you’re not thinking about asking your parents about the first time you had pigtails in your hair, or ate snow. The little things like that are what I want my kids to know about and be able to remember.

I asked Brynn to pick her favorite layout that she has made.

Q. Why is this your favorite page?

A. It may seem conceited but I like this page because it’s about me. Most my pages are about my kids and my family – I very seldom scrap about myself, so I was proud that I pulled so many things together to create a page about my childhood… and I just love the hodge podge of elements and pictures!

So there you go. That’s Brynn, in a very tiny nutshell. Come visit Scrapbook Challenges for more opportunities to get to know her and her fantastic digi creations!

Look out soon for the next Meet the DT post!
